Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River
The water surrounding JB’s Fish Camp is a paddler’s paradise. Be on the lookout for manatees, porpoise and exotic shorebirds in the surrounding protected bays. Take all the pictures you like, but please don’t touch. We treasure these creatures and want them to remain for everyone to enjoy for years to come! Remember that fishing is only permitted with a license. (*Note that we don’t sell fishing licenses. Check the Internet for a convenient location to purchase one if you’d like to try your luck.)
Some simple rules to make your experience fun and safe
- Give plenty of room to anglers in boats
- Stay in sight of JB’s Fishcamp if you are new to the lagoon or kayaking
- Wear protective foot covering when wading – oyster shells are sharp!
- Remember to ‘shuffle’ when wading to forewarn stingrays – barbs are sharp too!
- Carry your cell phone and other valuables in a zip lock bag
- Paddle ‘into’ the wind – your return to our dock will be much easier and MOST important …
Join us at the restaurant afterward for great food and fun!!
Bringing your own kayak?
- We have a designated launch zone at the south end of the property
- We don’t charge for using this launch
- In turn, we ask that you police your trash, ‘leave only footprints’
- After launching, park towards A1A so as not to block restaurant patron parking
