Cedar Creek Shellfish
One of my goals was to farm the sea. Over thirty years ago I started accumulating submerged land leases in the river abutting the Fish Camp. At that time, our goal was to farm our own oysters. This was an uncharted area. We found out the hard way that oysters do not live past two years. So that is why oysters don t grow to be a foot long!
About that time, the clam industry started to develop. It was like a gold rush at first. I partnered up with Mike Sullivan twelve years ago and formed Cedar Creek Shellfish . Our success in growing clams did not happen at a very quick rate. We were never subsidized by the state like other aquaculture companies. By the gift of God ,our area was blessed with fantastic growing conditions. We now sell clams and clam seed all over the United States. All the delicious clams served in our restaurant are grown on our farm.
